Some of us at O3 World attended WeWork’s first “Future of Philly” event that kicked off last January. The goal of this event was to bring together partners and influencers to discuss the future of Philadelphia tech. We attended this event to hear about what others had to say about the tech scene here in Philly.
It was very refreshing to see an all-women panelist in a tech event, who by the way were not gathered to talk about what it’s like to be a woman in the tech space, but to share their thoughts on how the Philly tech scene has evolved over the years, and how they think we, as a community, need to act to push Philly past the tipping point.
The panel was comprised of Danielle Cohn, Director of Entrepreneurial Engagement at Comcast; Tiffanie Standard, CEO and Founder of Stimulus; and Stephanie Glenn, VP of SMB Sales at Salesforce. They discussed a wide range of topics from forecasting trends in Philly’s tech ecosystem, to working with startups and entrepreneurs and bettering Philadelphia as a community.
OUR MAIN TAKEAWAYS
Philly is at a tipping point and it is an exciting time to be a part of the Philly Tech Scene. In contrast to what these speakers have seen from city to city, Philly’s inclusiveness in tech scene gives the city an advantage. The tech community as a whole needs to continue building relationships and resources for others that are new to the city, and also by spreading the word about what’s happening here and leveraging the diversity we have as an asset.
Over the years, we have seen a growth in many events and meetups happening here, that bring tremendous value to the technology and digital scene, and we must continue to focus on coming together as a community by fostering connections between tech companies to keep the trended tech growth we’ve seen in Philadelphia.
