This Friday December 2nd, WordCamp US will be hosted at the Philadelphia Convention Center. WordCamp is an event where WordPress enthusiasts and more gather to learn to get the most out of WordPress. The event, which is community-organized, offers something for everyone, from blogging newbies to professional developers, from marketing professionals to experienced designers, from tech enthusiasts to leading technologists. Most importantly, they provide a welcoming, engaging and safe space for WordPress users to get to know one another.
We’re proud that one of our talented Full Stack Developers Courtney Wilburn will hold a session titled “The Back End Is Dead: A New Paradigm for Assessing Talent & Creating Great Applications.” During this session she will draw on the ideas that when companies are in search of new developers, they look for people who fall into one of three categories: Front-End, Back-End, and Full-Stack. She points out that these categories can be limiting, and if we take a moment to consider this, we may end up hiring more qualified people. This session will explain how this would create teams more well-suited to build a wide variety of websites and applications. If we think about the labels companies use in hiring we can introduce a new way of thinking of the stack, and how we hire the people who build it.
